Cawthra Square
A special Inn designed to accommodate the discerning cosmopolitan business or leisure traveler.
"Location, Privacy, Respect; - A quiet oasis in the City!"
Cawthra Square was a classic 5 star caliber B&B that has primarily been marketed to GLBT community; with appropriate information on this website.
Gloucester Square is marketed as a fine Inn to the discerning corporate, business, or leisure traveler seeking a larger-yet-intimate facility. This fine Inn with it's meeting rooms and Spa services, is accessed by the link on the menu bar to the left.
The Carriage House - A Meeting and Event Facility
This historic building was built to accommodate the groom, 2 horses, and a carriage for the mansions at 512 and 514 Jarvis Street.
Today the building is restored and fitted to provide truly remarkable event space.
Our History
Cawthra Square Inn opened in 1996 as a classic Bed & Breakfast. Since that time I acquired a neighboring pair of Canadian Heritage designated Victorian mansions. These glorious mansions now operate within a single compound, with the refurbished Carriage House as Gloucester Square Inns. Perhaps best described today as a "boutique hotel", with 26 unique Guest Rooms and Suites, various meeting rooms, the Carriage House and a Spa!
Located in the Jarvis Mansion District this pocket of historic homes are in the hub of Toronto's large and respected village area. The land on which these home and the adjacent park reside, was former home to the elite Granite Curling Club, the cultural center of Toronto from 1865 - 1920.
Cawthra Square B&B continues it's evolution of the past decade! Today's guests enjoy the civility of days gone by in these splendid "Heritage Canada" designated mansions. At the mansions of Gloucester Square, tired guests are revived in our Spa, experience High Tea, use one of several meeting rooms or make plans for the day or major event with our Concierge or Wedding and Event Planner.
